5 Killers Who Went Into Hiding Before They Were Caught

  • Whitey Bulger: James Joseph, also called “Whitey” Bulger was a recognized FBI informant in the 18th century. He was connected to multiple murder cases. In1994he went into hiding upon being tipped off by John Connolly concerning the pending indictment. He remained on the top list of the FBI’s wanted persons for more than twelve years. He was arrested at the age of 81 and later sentenced to life imprisonment.
  • Nikolai Dzhumagaliev: Nikolai Dzhumagaliev, a serial killer, was murdered for the first time in 27 years. This is the initial time he experimented with cannibalism which he carried over in his following murders. In another two years, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and killed several others more. He was arrested when he killed his close friend during his party. Because of the past schizophrenia diagnosis history, Dzhumagaliev went to the treatment center and spent other eight years.
  • John List: John List appeared in the top list of murderers who killed their wives, three kids, and his mother, Alma, at the age of46. After shooting them, he drafted a letter to his pastor explaining how he had noticed the many evils in the world hence his reason for killing his family. He cleared the crime scene and fled before the bodies were discovered. He changed his name to Bob Clark and remarried but was later arrested after 18 years but later died behind bars.
  • James Robert Jones: James Robert Jones was jailed and served a sentence of 23 years because of murdering his fellow soldier. But he managed to flee and vanished from jail for nearly 40 years. Then, the authorities started looking at his case, started looking for him, and arrested him.
  • Allan Legere: Allan Legere was sentenced in 1986 because of killing a store owner but managed to flee. After being taken for treatment of ear infections, he escaped without a trace. He was later jailed and sentenced to life as he committed more assaults, murders, and rape cases.
